Before, during, and after your orthodontic treatment, x-rays are needed to ensure that your teeth and surrounding bones remain healthy
At McComb Orthodontics, we use only digital x-rays, which have less than 10% of the radiation exposure of a traditional full mouth set of dental x-rays. Digital x-rays also provide clearer and more accurate images of your teeth, and are much quicker and more comfortable for patients. In addition to this, we always take necessary precautions, including taking x-rays only when necessary, and using lead aprons to protect the body. If you have any questions about dental x-rays, please feel free to ask Dr. McComb at any point during your consultation or treatment.
At McComb Orthodontics, we use a special procedure to put your braces on that notably reduces your time in the dental chair and greatly increases your comfort
In the past, braces were put on one by one during a long appointment with the mouth fully open. Now, we use a procedure called indirect bonding. During your first appointment, Dr. McComb and his staff will take a custom impression of your mouth. Before your next visit, they will place the braces on a customized model of your teeth, and the braces will then be transferred in one step into your mouth. This greatly increases the accuracy in the position of the braces and dramatically reduces the amount of time you need to sit in the chair with your mouth wide open. The leads to increased patient comfort and a better overall result!
